Fellow illustrator, Chloé Yingst, and I are attending the 6th Illustration Conference in Pasadena, California this week! We're excited and are staying in Santa Monica in the mean time. I'll be sure to visit the Santa Monica Pier & Beach since some of my first childhood memories are from there - I used to chase the burrowing sand crabs after each receding wave when I was about 4 years old. We also plan on visiting Thinkspace Gallery, Gallery Nucleus, La Luz de Jesus, 99 High Art Collective, and a few art festivals down in Laguna.

If you're traveling through Austin by plane I've also got a few pieces on display at the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport through September 30, 2010. They are part of the "Oh, the Places You'll Go!" exhibit in the East Airside Gallery behind the Austin Article store near Gate 8 on the Concourse level.

This weekend is the Faery Masque Ball at the Vortex theatre in Austin, TX. I'm scheduled to digitally paint around 8:30. There will be so much exquisite talent present! A musical, burlesque, hooping, fire juggling, body painting, suspended aerial performers and much more!

Some more digital figure paintings posted. I did most of these while sitting in on Melissa Grimes' "Illustration Techniques" class. Ever since I took this class a few years ago, I've been turned on to drawing from observation much more. Since then, she's asked me to give several digital painting workshops & demonstrations for her students. In return I get to attend great costumed figure drawing sessions!

Melissa is an experienced illustrator who's been published in Rolling Stone among other things. Be sure to check out her paintings.
